Team In Training Coach Update: Week of May 2 - Welcome to the Fall Marathon Team!

"The distance is nothing, it is only the first step that is difficult."  -Madame Marquise du Deffand

"I can't do it" never accomplished anything; I will try has accomplished wonders."  --George P. Burnham.

Welcome to the Team!!!!

We are very happy you decided to join us this season!!!  The next few months will provide with an experience you will never forget.  It will be filled with fun, challenges, maybe a few frustrations, new friends and many moments of pride and a sense of accomplishment.  We are looking forward to working with all of you and helping you achieve your goals.  We are here to help you to get to the starting line of your event.  From there, your training and spirit will carry you to the finish and we can't wait to celebrate with you.

You will be training through three seasons!  As spring turns to summer and summer to fall you will be transforming yourself into an endurance athlete and by the time the leaves start changing you will be getting ready to complete a half marathon or marathon!

Please contact us at any time with any questions or concerns you have throughout the season.  It is especially important to let us know if you are having any difficulties with your training.  Perhaps you may miss a few training sessions and not know how to get back into the program.  Maybe the schedule just won't work for you.  Please call us; we can help you to adapt the schedule.  Let us know about any aches and pains you may have, even if they don't appear serious.  They probably are no big deal, but the sooner we take care of them, the better.

Coaches Updates

Each week you will receive an e-mail from us with the subject line of "Coaches Update."  Please read these e-mails carefully and thoroughly as they will contain important information about the week's training as well as coaching advice to help you train for and finish your event in the best way possible.

Training Locations

In addition, we will always tell you the location of Saturday's group training.  These locations are also in your schedule packet.  If, on a rare occasion, due to circumstances beyond our control (usually weather or an event at the training location), a training location has to be changed we will make every effort to inform you, but your e-mail will be the first line of communication.

All locations and directions are with your schedule information. Please Note: You can always check up the status of our trainings at http://www.runningforacure.info

Team Trainings

We encourage you to come out and train with the TEAM as often as possible.  We can best help you when we are out on the paths with you.  In addition, we will support your training with water, sports drinks and snacks.  Most importantly, you will meet and become friend with your fellow team members, which is one of the best parts of TEAM!

Clinics

We have several clinics schedule throughout the season.  Completing a half-marathon or marathon is a big undertaking and is a lot more involved than simply walking or running the distance.  Wearing the right clothes, eating the right foods, doing the right things to prevent injury will all help you to have the best chance at being successful and having the most fun on event day.  We strongly encourage you to come out to the clinic to learn everything you need to know.

Kick-Off

Get your season off to a great start by attending Kick-Off.  You will have an opportunity to meet your coaches, mentors, staff and patient honorees as well as be inspired by our patient honorees. We hope to see you at kick off this week.  You are welcome to come to either one.

Thank you so very much for choosing Team in Training and helping to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and other blood related cancers.
